21st August

The Gathering is over, and I think we can safely say it was a resounding success.

Several hundred people came and as a result, after all that worrying, we broke even!

Full thanks should go to the site owners, Peter and Irene, who were truly marvelous. Easy going, helpful - in general amazing. Thanks indeed to Lime Tree Farm. (page opens in new window)

We are in the process of tidying up the website following the end of the Gathering. Eventually we hope to have summaries of some of the results of some of the workshops here, so keep checking!

12th August

The whole Collective is on site now, so we won't be reading any e-mails.

To contact the Gathering for any enquiries or information, telephone the Gathering mobile on 07792 091822.

See you there!

8th August

We've now uploaded the full Gathering timetable for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There's also a word processed Gathering timetable available for printing off. (.rtf file, page opens in new window).

We have also uploaded a copy of the Gathering e-mail flyer which we have been circulating round various fora.

We've produced a statement on:

Money

Obviously some things cost money! The gathering is very likely to be really short of money this year unless 500-odd people pay £10 to come in. There has been a charge of £10 for every adult for many years. The cost this year is again £10. This money pays for the site, structures, petrol money, publicity, phone and computer bills etc. While as much as possible is begged, borrowed and stolen, we have a shortfall of cash.

Please pay at least £12 (OR MORE) if you can afford it.

We're really looking forward to the Gathering. See you there!

5th August

We have released the location of the Gathering. The location, together with maps, directions, public transport info etc. is on the Where is it? page.

The phone number for the Gathering when we are on site is 07792 091822.

2nd August

The Gathering is approaching and all seems to be going well, though we are still desperately short of money - see below if you can help out.

Various parts of the website have been updated, most importantly the addition of a Kids section. We've also added a list of local attractions you may wish to visit, and updated the Lifts page and the wishlist.

The location of the gathering, together with maps, directions, pickup information etc. should be on the website within the next week or so.

21st July

Please could those people who are a member of a co-operative (e.g. housing co-op), or who work/research at a University try and get some money from them for coming to the Gathering? Some co-operatives have rules about supporting ethical initiatives, also if the Gathering is at all related to your research there may be research funding from the University. The Gathering is dangerously skint so if you can get money for attending please do. The Collective can provide receipts for any amount or invoices for services provided. Please contact us if you think you can help in this way.

There will be an expert in Alt Tech power helping set up the site from Friday 8th August. He will need some help setting up. He'd also like to pass on some of his knowledge on Alt Tech solutions for people who are interested / would find it useful, and this is a prime opportunity to learn "on the job". Please do come along, and contact us if you are doing so.

The lifts page has been updated with new contacts.

16th July

The Gathering is seriously skint! We need to get some money in fast because otherwise we will most probably go bust. We're using up the reserve - and more - and there's not enough money left to give any to next year's collective. That means it's looking increasingly like there won't be enough money for a Gathering next year.

The gate price of the Gathering hasn't gone up in 10 years, whereas other costs definitely have. If we're not careful we shall lose this amazing opportunity to meet and liaise with other activists.

So come on, dig deep in your pockets! Suggested donations on the door are to be £15 for those not entirely skint, with an absolute minimum per person of £10 - and that's not going to cover the costs. But if you can afford more - please do help out. We could do with some decent ideas about where we can get some (ethical) dosh from.

Please contact us with money and ideas!

Other than that, we also desperately need a transport coordinator to organise transport for tat and people, also a rubbish coordinator.

After last year's gathering, a set of hand-painted wooden signs (e.g. "Workshop 1", "Toilets" etc.) went missing, along with some specialist compost toilet stuff. Do you know where these are?

If you can help with any of this, please do contact us, as things are getting a bit desperate!

We've also updated bits and pieces on the website, including the liftshare page.

12th July

We have updated the Issues page with a few more campaigns. Do read through, also if you haven't been listed and wish to be please do contact us.

In response to a request by Robert Cogswell, editor of Arkangel, we have also updated the news page's section on Animals for Food with Arkangel's e-mails.

29th June

Various bits of this site have been updated; including the wish list and the Issues page.

The next on-site Work Weekend will be the weekend of 12th-13th July. On this weekend we need to complete the toilets, maybe build a clay oven (!) and maybe a huge bender if we can get enough willow and hazel, amongst other things. We need help! - do come along, contact us for further info, lifts, pick-ups from the nearest stations, etc.

We'll also need people on site for the week leading up to the gathering, and for a couple of days afterwards, to help set up / tat down the gathering. Please also contact us if you can help with this.

Animals for Food

The original flyer advertised a workshop on "small game hunting". Animal Rights organisation Arkangel (link opens in new window) have challenged this. Please see :

We feel that any further discussion on this should take place at the Gathering itself. We very much hope that Animal Rights activists will be present at the Gathering.
