The Gathering this year will be held in a location 5Km due south of Masham, approximately 11km WNW of Ripon, in North Yorkshire.

The Grid Reference is SE 218 769, Lat. and Long. 54°11'15" N 1°40'10" W.

Directions

From both North and South, it is best to approach via the A1. Turn West onto the A61 towards Ripon. Once in Ripon, follow the signs for the minor road (Kirkby Road) towards Grewelthorpe and Masham. (Do not take the A6108). A routefinding program came up with the following directions from Ripon to Grewelthorpe.

Once in Grewelthorpe, go past the pond, turn left at the "green triangle" junction, and follow signs for "the Hutt". Lime Tree Farm is on the right approximately 1.5km to the North-West of Grewelthorpe. We hope to have signs on the road from Grewelthorpe onwards.

Public transport

There is no public transport direct to the Site. However we will be picking up at Thirsk rail station and at Ripon bus station, as stated below.

Thirsk is on a main line. Trains are roughly every hour from London (takes two and a half to three hours) though trains from Scotland and other areas are less frequent or convenient. You can check train times at the National Rail website. (page opens in new window.)

Buses run from Harrogate and Leeds to Ripon approximately every half hour during the day. They take about an hour and twenty minutes from Leeds, and about half an hour from Harrogate. There is an online Bus timetable from Harrogate/Leeds to Ripon (page opens in new window).

Pickups

We will be arranging minibuses to/from the Gathering. These minibuses will be picking up / setting down at Thirsk train station and Ripon bus station at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm from Wednesday 13th onwards. (We are not arranging pickups from Harrogate station.)

If there are groups of people wanting picking up at other times, this may be possible. Phone the Gathering mobile on 07792 091822 to request extra pickups.

Contributions towards this transport would be very much appreciated, especially as the Gathering is so skint.

We have a liftshare page for coordinating lifts to/from other areas of the country.

Cycling / Hitching

The site is in easy cycling distance from the railway stations at Harrogate and Thirsk (about 25km each) so it would be great for some people to cycle instead of getting picked up by the Gathering transport.

There isn't a lot of traffic in the vicinity of the site. If you're hitching you are probably better getting to Ripon or Thirsk and getting picked up by the Gathering transport.
