the destination (page opens in new window.)
We have a liftshare page for coordinating
lifts to/from other areas of the country. Please save petrol and road
miles and be prepared to share your transport!
If you get thoroughly lost then ring the Gathering mobile on 0779 209
1822 for help and advice.
Public transport
The site is served by an hourly bus service from the nearest mainline
station. As such we are not offering Gathering transport this year,
except for those who really need it (i.e. with kids, disabled or
carrying lots of equipment).
However, we have now discovered that there is no bus service
on the Sunday. Therefore if you really need to travel on the
Sunday - can't stay till the Monday - give us a ring (see the
"Contact us" page) and we should
be able to organise lifts to Lincoln Station.
The nearest mainline station is Lincoln. View train times to Lincoln
at the National Rail Enquiries site (page opens in new window.)
Buses run from Lincoln city bus station to the nearest bus stop to
the site (Tattershall Thorpe) hourly on the hour during the day (except
Sunday) and take approximately 45 minutes. The last bus leaves Lincoln
at 6pm. More details may be found at the Lincolnshire journey planner site. (link opens in
new window.)
Lincoln bus station is approx 200yards from the train station; cross
the road in front of the station, turn right and follow the street
along, bus station is on left. Buses leave from stand Q, near where the
buses enter the station. We are told the buses are wheelchair
accessible, though we advice people with mobility difficulties to make
alternative transport arrangements as listed below.
Bus users need to ask for the stop in Tattershall Thorpe, by the pub.
At Tattershall, walk on in the direction of the bus for 1 mile. The road
bears sharply to right, take the road off to left here, then at the
T-junction turn left. Site is on the right about ½ mile. It will
be signposted.
For cyclists and people with impaired
mobility, we suggest catching the train from Lincoln to
Metheringham. Metheringham is the nearest branch line station to the
site. It is a 12 minute journey from Lincoln to Metheringham, which
itself is approximately 15 miles from the site along B-roads through
attractive countryside (for cyclists!). However there are no
trains to/from Metheringham on Sunday.
Wheelchair users and people with other mobility impairments are
advised to telephone the Gathering mobile on 0779 209 1822 (or 0798 428
9876 if the previous number doesn't work) and ask to be picked up
from Metheringham. On the Sunday we will be able to offer lifts to
Lincoln, on request.
Pickups
As stated above, due to the reasonable public transport we are
not offering regular pickups this Gathering. Pickups
will only be arranged for those who really need them, i.e. those with
kids, those with health problems, disabled people, those with lots of
luggage and those who really can't avoid travelling on Sunday (when
there are no buses).
If you really need to be picked up for one of the above reasons then
please telephone the Gathering in advance on 0779 209 1822 (or 0798 428
9876 if the first number stops working for any reason). Contributions to
this transport would be very much appreciated.
Hitching
There isn't a lot of traffic in the vicinity of the site. If
you're hitching you are probably better getting to Lincoln and
catching the bus.
