Directions
By road: Glaneirw is between Cardigan and Aberaeron at the junction of the A487 (main coast road from Cardigan to Aberystwyth) and the B4333, about 6 miles from Cardigan. The junction is called the Tan-y-groes crossroads. The gathering is signed from this junction.
If you are coming through Aberyswyth by car with space to spare, it may be worth checking the rail station for folk heading for the gathering. The public transport situation is poor (see below). Or you could offer a lift in advance on freewheelers.
There is car parking on the site. Though please be aware that our hosts have asked that once vehicles have arrived and are parked, that they should stay parked until you leave. This is to minimise the damage done to the parking field.
Public Transport
Update: It appears there are other buses from Aberyswyth. The number 550, Arriva Cymru, leaves from outside a school with an unpronouncable name to the left by the station. Only asked about a few times, so 11:35, 13:35 and 15:45; last bus much later than X50, runs on Sundays, costs £3.60 Call 0870 608 2 608 for full details.
The nearest train station is Aberystwyth. Bus X50 (timetable, PDF) goes from Aberystwyth station approximately every 1 ½ hours, taking 1 ¼ hours. Get off at Tan-y-groes crossroads (the main road junction described above). It is less than five minutes walk to the site. Last bus 7.45 pm. If you can't arrive before 7:45pm then you will have to call the site mobile (0771 629 7502) to arrange a pick up.
If coming from South Wales, the nearest train station is Carmarthen. Bus 460 (timetable PDF) from the station takes you to Cardigan approximately every 1 ½ hours, taking around 1 ½ hours. Connect with bus X50 (see above). Unfortunately the last X50 out of Cardigan is at 5pm – if arriving after this you'll have to take a taxi or call the site (0771 629 7502) to arrange a pick-up.
Arriving/leaving on Sunday (public transport) – As far as we can tell there are no Sunday buses. So you'll all have to stay till Monday and help tat down :-) We will try to arrange station lifts on Sunday – if you are bringing a vehicle please consider helping with this by taking a load of people to a station before you leave.
Pick Ups
Due to the lack of public transport, we will be arranging pick ups from Aberyswyth station during the hours when no public transport is available, though be prepared for a wait.
If you catch a train and have missed the last bus to the gathering, call the site mobile once you have arrived at the station. For leaving the gathering we will arrange a lifts board at the gate tent, and run drop offs if required.
We would like to have vehicles available for pick up runs. If you can help then please get in touch with us or tell the gate tent when you arrive.
Hitching and Cycling
The site is within cycling distance from the railway station at Aberyswyth (about 32 miles) so it would be great for some people to cycle instead of getting picked up by the Gathering transport. The bus company might be able to take bikes - call 01239 613756.
The A487 is the main coast road and is single carraige way. So hitching should be quite possible along that road (speculation only). Coming up from the M4 is an unknown to the webmaster.
To arrange a lift in advance, you could try the freewheelers page.
Alternative Accomodation
Here are some links to information about local bed and breakfast accomodation. We do not know how nice any of them are, we just spent a while with google.
